Such an adorable cake shop, though you'd never know it from the outside. It isn't much too look at from the parking lot but they've done a beautiful job decorating the small interior for tastings and to showcase their custom order designs. The vibe was only what I can describe to be "pretty" or "girly" and it seems like a great choice if you were in need of a wedding cake. I, however, was not and came to search only for some treats to surprise my husband with after work. APOC has a very small but elegant selection of cupcakes and a vibrant variety of macaroons (spelled macarons at this location which I thought was strange) that really caught my eye. There were staple flavor options and a handful of unique/exotic choices to pick from. I went for a half dozen mix, which came to $12 or $2 a piece. The macaroons are pretty much the size of an Oreo so the price seemed a bit extreme to me. I could tell that these were quality and looked adorable but for the price and size, I would not be likely to make this a routine sweet spot. I'd rather spend half the price on local tiramisu or a build your own froyo. My husband loved the macaroons, particularly the cinnamon flavor and salted caramel type. He wasn't a fan of the curious Violet flavor, so I was able to have the other half bite of it. It tasted like a jelly bean which I loved! For presentation and taste, these really were great (albeit slightly expensive). My big beef with APOC was the customer service. Granted you can kind of tell this place is centered around "big" custom orders for special occasions, but the girl who helped me was noticeably rushing me, did not sound sincere when thanking me,and cut me off when I began to ask "what flavors do the macaro-" (ons come in?) which is a big no no in my opinion. In my line of work, I hear the same question all day long and I just couldn't imagine dismissing my clients by interrupting them or assuming I know what they're going to ask. I kind of felt like I was inconveniencing the girl.

Not a sit down bakery, geared towards events. Very nice, standard bakery. Could use a bit more lighting. Not much of a selection for cupcakes but very cool cakes.

Gorgeous cakes in all shapes, sizes and colors... And gluten-free if you want it! I cannot resist their cupcakes, which are always fresh and available in ever-changing flavors. Nearly every time I drive by, I stop in for a whiff and a treat. The bakers do a great job and it's a business I'm happy to support!

Cute little bakery. I come for the macarons, because as far as I know, this is the only place to get them in the Lansing area. The macarons come in a variety of flavors like passionfruit, violet, and salted caramel. The filling is a bit heavier and sweeter than most macarons I've had (again, food here in MI is generally sweeter than I am used to). Still, they are delicious and will satisfy a craving.

Moist cupcakes. Green tea macaron had a bit of loose green tea set on top (excellence in details). There is not much of a sit-down area - this place is more for take-out.

what can i say! this is a cute, quaint cake shop! They have various flavors such as salted caramel, passion fruit frosting and carrot cake. The sour cream chocolate cupcake was light, fluffy and moist! I find that macarons are always made too sweet, however, coming here has definitely changed me, the salted caramel macaron and it was pretty good. I am not sure what kind of cream they use? maybe buttercream? but it melted in my mouth!!! it was delicious and not too sweet! Right amount of crunch and chewiness. Not to be a total food snob, I am from california, mecca of good food! ((Sorry east lansing)) and this place is def california standards! I can't wait to try other flavors. P.S. my friends had a chocolate raspberry and a passionfruit cupcake and said it tasted good. Tip - it may be hard to find, it is next door to the east lansing food coop, near the apartments in the back.

THEY USED TO BE GLUTEN FREE! THEY AREN'T ANY LONGER!!!!!! Awesome, awesome, awesome customer service and their cakes are so delicious. I would have given 5 stars but I need to keep one to myself because they no longer make gluten free cakes! When I first started going to them it was in 2011 when I graduated from CMU. I purchased a gfc. I loved them! My friends and family loved them, so moist, delicious and flavorful! I've purchased yearly cakes from them for my families birthday's, my birthday and sometimes other special occassions for YEARS. I just recently found out that what I thought were gluten free cakes were actually wheat cakes. Never able to figure out what could have been making me ill during those purchases, I now know that it was the cake and not any other type of food that I had eaten. I think it is truly important to INFORM the public about the switch, either with a sign, a notice, something to let them know that gluten free cakes are no longer being made!!! They have a website, a facebook page (yes I've posted to those as well to inform the public) a twitter account, there is just no excuse for not sharing this information with your customers. I am sad to say I HATE to leave this company behind! They have wonderful and polite staff and their cakes are out of this world, the gluten free and the wheat cakes! I am going to miss them. I know this review seems negative but trust it's not. The only issue I have is the lack of information to the public who have special dietary needs. WE DO NEED TO BE INFORMED, IT'S LIFE THREATENING!!!! Maybe now they'll post it somewhere on their social media pages or even in their store???? When you do a google search a piece o cake are the very first to pop up AS GLUTEN FREE!!!!! Not to mention various articles etc. THE PUBLIC NEEDS TO BE INFORMED. I wish them well and for those of you who can eat wheat! This is the BEST!!!

Just a heads up, the macarons have moved to Le Bon Macaron, which is a little building next to Bell's Greek Pizza on Grand River! Stopped by here to satisfy a cupcake craving and left super happy. They had a small selection for $3 each, and they were all decorated beautifully. It was a couple of weeks ago so I'm not 100% sure what I got, but I know one was cherry chip. I only got 4 because I was worried about how they would taste. I needn't have worried. The cupcake is very moist and flavorful and delicious. The frosting on the cupcakes were perfect! Not too sweet. I bought cupcakes from Whipped a little while ago and it was just pure sugar. So if your taste buds don't like the traditional, way too sweet frosting that graces most cupcakes, then definitely try this!!! The store is very clean and cute, which I love. The girl at the counter was perfectly nice and helpful, no complaints there!
